The Florida particulars of interior remodeling
Two things come up on almost every older house here. Popcorn ceilings are near-universal in the 1960s to 1990s stock, and on the earlier end the texture may contain asbestos, which the EPA treats as a testing question before it is a removal question. And under the carpet there is often terrazzo in good condition, which is usually worth polishing rather than covering.
Sequence matters
Ceilings before walls, walls before floors, floors before trim. Done out of order you pay twice, and the second time includes protecting what you just finished. It is the least glamorous part of a written scope and the part that saves the most money.
