What this covers
- Whole-home repipe, and specifically polybutylene replacement.
- Electrical panel upgrades and rewiring, including aluminium branch circuits.
- HVAC replacement and ductwork, and attic insulation.
When home systems upgrades in Florida cannot wait
Two of them are not discretionary. Polybutylene supply pipe is a live insurance question at renewal and at sale, and an undersized panel becomes the thing that stops a kitchen being permitted. The rest can be sequenced, but these two set their own timetable.
Why home systems upgrades belong in the remodel
Every one of these home systems lives behind finished surfaces, and each is inspected under the Florida Building Code. Repiping a house on its own means cutting into walls and ceilings and then repairing all of it. Repiping during a renovation, when those surfaces are already open, removes most of that cost. The same is true of new circuits and of duct runs.
This is the main argument for doing a whole-home renovation in one go rather than as a series of separate projects: the expensive part is opening the house, and you only want to pay for that once.
