The question pool deck resurfacing must answer first
Is the slab sound. Hairline surface cracking is normal, and a new coating covers it fine. But cracks that have moved tell a different story. So do sections that have settled to different levels, or areas that sound hollow underfoot. Those mean the problem is structural, and a new coating will telegraph it and fail. We determine that before quoting, because resurfacing a failing slab means doing the job twice.
The options
Barrier and gate rules around a pool stay in force under the Florida Building Code whatever the surface. Textured acrylic or knockdown coatings are the common choice. They stay cool underfoot, grip well and come in a wide colour range. However, they need recoating periodically. Paver overlays cost more and last longer. You can also lift them individually if something below needs attention. Tile suits a modern deck, but demands real care over slip rating. A smooth tile beside a pool is dangerous.
Two things people forget
First, surface temperature. In full Florida sun it decides whether people walk on the deck barefoot. Second, drainage. Water must run away from the house and away from the pool coping. Resurfacing is the moment to correct it if it does not.
